OS 1.15 introduces a comprehensive slicing system that transforms how you work with samples, offering up to 64 editable slices per sample with intelligent editing tools and flexible performance options.

The Slice machine offers two sophisticated approaches to sample division:
Grid-Based Slicing: Creates evenly distributed slice points across your sample, perfect for rhythmic material where consistent timing is essential.
Transient Detection: Automatically analyzes your sample’s amplitude peaks to place slice points at natural musical boundaries, ideal for complex loops with varying dynamics.
Both methods provide precise control over the resulting divisions, with the ability to fine-tune each slice point individually.

The dedicated slice editor provides granular control over each slice:
- Start/End Point Adjustment: Precise positioning of slice boundaries
- Loop Markers: Individual loop settings per slice
- Adjacent Slice Linking: Connect or separate neighboring slices for creative transitions
Flexible Assignment Options
Random Locks: Automatically distribute slices across sequencer trigs for generative patterns and glitch-style arrangements.
Linear Locks: Assign slices in sequential order for straightforward loop reconstruction and traditional playback.
Enhanced Performance Interface
Slice Trig Mode provides direct access to all slices via the hardware’s trig keys, maintaining Elektron’s hands-on workflow philosophy. Even with the maximum 64 slices, every division remains accessible through the interface, ensuring creative flow isn’t interrupted by menu diving.

System Integration
- Overbridge Compatibility: Requires Overbridge 2.21 (released alongside OS 1.15)

Installation Process
The update includes a built-in integrity check that can take up to one minute during the first reboot. If file system errors are detected, the system guides users through a backup and restore process to ensure data integrity.
